Technology and Teaching
Technology has opened up a
wide variety of instructional options for faculty at Columbia State
Community College. The Academic Services Instructional Technology Plan
represents an effort to address the myriad opportunities and challenges
posed by new technologies, and should be considered as a guide to achieve
Columbia State’s strategic goals. The FITT center was established to provide
faculty with professional development opportunities for learning new
technology to better serve our students in the 21st Century.

MODULE 1 - USING THE COMPUTER AND MANAGING
FILES (Windows XP)

the desktop environment

simple editing tools, and print management facilities available within an

MODULE 3 - WORD
PROCESSING (Microsoft Word 2003)
- Carry out operations
associated with creating, formatting, and finishing a word processing
document ready for distribution

PRESENTATIONS (Microsoft PowerPoint 2003)
- Creating, formatting, and
preparing a variety of presentations for different target audiences or
situations

Faculty Web Pages
One of the privileges of having a web-server at Columbia State is that you may
create an instructor page that is viewable to the world. The FITT center
will provide you with the training and techniques needed to create, update, and
manage your faculty web.
Columbia State's Online Campus
Online Campus provides pre-built
tools allowing for easy creation of online components in courses.
Faculty Resource Computers
Faculty resource computers are systems in the FITT center that contain
software that we have limited installation licenses on such as Adobe
PhotoShop, Adobe Reader Professional, Camtasia, and more. These systems also have scanners
hooked up for scanning pictures and text. The resource computers are
available for faculty use when training sessions are not scheduled. Please check
