PowerPoint and WebCT

1. Create a PowerPoint presentation

2. Follow the directions below

Saving Windows PowerPoint files as HTML for use in WebCTThe default settings for PowerPoint's "Save as Web page" are not compatible with WebCT.  The best way to save PowerPoint files as web pages is to make a new folder and save the html files inside this folder.  There is a way to generate a single *.html file which will contain the entire presentation but this method has caused problems on occasion.  The following procedure will produce html files that will work with Windows machines and approved browsers.

  1. Open up PowerPoint and the presentation that you want to convert into html for WebCT.
  2. From the File menu select "Save as Web Page"

  1. Then click:  Publish
A set of files will be created with one main index file (file name.html). There will be one *.xml file created, but it doesn't cause any problems.

At this point PowerPoint has inserted all of the slides and other files into the folder you created in the directory/folder you indicated.  You can upload each one of these files one at a time to WebCT or you can Zip the entire contents of the folder into one file, then you can upload that file.
