In the Web Name box, type in the full web address of your web
Example: http://www.columbiastae.edu/myweb (don't forget the http://)
Click Open
If prompted, enter your username and password
You are now in Live Edit mode and can backup your
web to your local drive. Be careful to NOT make changes to your web.
Changes in Live Edit mode happen immediately when you save.
Second, publish to your local computer for a backup:
Select File from the menu bar
Select Publish Web ~ Select A. or B. according to
your situation
A. If you have published from your
computer before:
The Publish Web dialogue box should be open
Select Change at the top of the Publish Web box
The Publish Destination dialogue box will open
Click Browse and select a location on your computer for the
backup (i.e. My Documents\My Webs)
Click Open
Click OK
You should now see that the TO: box reflects the location on your
local hard drive.
Example: C:\Documents and Settings\your name\My_Documents\My Webs\your web
Click Publish
Click Done
Exit out of your web
B. If you have never published from your computer
The Publish Destination dialogue box will open
Click Browse and select a location on your computer for the
backup (i.e. My Documents\My Webs)
Click Open
The Publish Web dialogue box will open
You should now see that the TO: box reflects the location on your
local hard drive.
Example: C:\Documents and Settings\your name\My_Documents\My Webs\your
web
If it is not in the location where you want it, click Change again.
