Formatting a Meeting Agenda Shared

Most of us here at CoSCC are on at least one committee…and some have lost count of how many committees they are on! If you are a committee chair or the committee note-taker/recorder/secretary, you may find this week’s tech tip especially useful. A meeting agenda is a helpful tool to help organize committee meetings. Instead of creating an agenda from “scratch,” Microsoft Word has a helpful template that can help organize the plans for the committee meeting. Here’s what you do:

  1. Open Microsoft Word.

  2. On the File menu, click New.

  3. In the New Document under Templates, click On my computer.

  4. Click the Other Documents tab.

  5. Double-click the Agenda Wizard.

  6. The Wizard will ask you questions that will help you create your agenda.

  7. When you are finished answering the questions for the Wizard, the meeting agenda will display in a readable and organized format that you can distribute to committee members.

This agenda will allow you to include the following elements in an organized document:

  • Meeting/committee name

  • Members expected to attend

  • Date and time of meeting

  • Goals of the meeting

  • Notes regarding the goals

  • Person responsible for various tasks

  • Deadlines for committee tasks

Here is an example of what this could look like:
