Print Only What You Want From a Webpage

Mandy Carter-Lowe

Have you ever tried to print something from a web page and wasted a lot of paper printing advertisements and headings in order to get the information you wanted? Or have you tried to print from WebCT and got lots of print outs of the course menu and no pages of the content. Or how about sitting down to read something you printed from the web and realized the right-hand margin had been cut-off? Next time you print from the web, try this:

  1. Using your left mouse button, click and drag to highlight the information you want. (Alternatively, you can also go to Edit in the menu and choose Select All from the drop-down.)

  2. After highlighting the desired information, go to File in the menu and select "Print from the drop-down. The printer dialog box should open.

  3. Under Page Range you should choose Selection.

  4. Select Print from the bottom of the dialog box.

If you have any problems, be sure to seek out a Faculty Technology Mentor for assistance. Our contact information can be found at http://www.columbiastate.edu/fitt/FTM/Faculty_Mentors.htm
